EthXCom grew out of founder Andrew Hoffmanns' career in the international corporate world. At ExxonMobil and Shell, he worked on auditing, fraud investigation, and Ethics & Compliance. Those years formed a solid foundation: establishing facts carefully, separating interests, conducting investigations in a traceable manner, and designing integrity programs so that responsibilities, reporting channels, and follow-up actually function.

In the Netherlands, work increasingly shifted from financial fraud and classic compliance issues to reports of undesirable behavior, social safety, and loss of trust. There, it became clear that a formally correct approach is not always sufficient. An investigation may be necessary, but it does not automatically restore cooperation, trust, or the underlying patterns of a situation.

The step toward independent entrepreneurship — with more breathing room from the South Limburg hills — also brought a broader question: how can professional conduct contribute to purpose and meaning in work? The interest in what happens beneath the surface and in the larger picture of organizations led to further specialization and training in systemic work. This systemic lens complements factual and structural expertise with attention to patterns, positions, and dynamics that are not always immediately visible or open to discussion. In this way, EthXCom connects solid facts and structures with attention to people, leadership, culture, and the undercurrent.
